Skin is thinner/gray after reaction when using cream with steroid. Will my skin go back to normal thickness?

I know it may be hard to see but my skin looks translucent/gray ever since I had a bad reaction to a product that led to overexfoliation/peeling. Any tips on how to restore my skin?
