If you haven’t already, make sure you’re on the approved pickup / drop off list for his school. If she’ll allow it, have something on file with his doctor too. Get to know his friends and if possible, their parents. Go to parent/teacher conferences (I’m assuming she doesn’t). Establish every little bit of proof you can of acting in a parental role. You might have no rights if she takes off with him, but there’s also the possibility of her doing a runner without him (or being incarcerated, or sent to inpatient rehab).
