I’m so glad you’re starting to get back to normal! It is a horrifying experience. I can’t find much about the side effects I had, or information about anyone’s side effects from actually stopping the shots, so I was thankful to see your post. Everything I have been able to find says the medication should be gone from the system in about 30 days. I’ve been counting down and hoping for the best lol

How many meals are you eating each day? And, how much? This medication slows gastric emptying, meaning the stomach empties slower than it did. But it doesn't change how fast the duodenum works. If you're trying to eat regularly, just less, your lower digestive tract is still getting signs you're eating, and wants to move things along. This might be your issue. And, it's why it's so important to get extra fiber consistently with lots of extra fluids.

Thank you for the reply! I’m eating roughly 2-3 meals a day still. I’ve been mostly just listening to hunger cues, and also cues that I’m full. I was making sure to get good amounts of fiber, and have always been a consistent water drinker. My doctor replied this morning and wants me to stop for 2-3 weeks and see if things go back to normal. We’ll see! Zepbound just may not be for me.

Are you close to your period? I’ve noticed my period cramping is much more intense since the zep. I think it’s bc I had pcos and the zep fixing blood sugars has made my body actually work like when it was in my 20s instead of my 40s. I was worried not knowing what what’s going on it tried to remind myself 1) it slows the digestive system and 2) period bloat = lots of stuff trapped into too small a space. I had one day I could barely eat, Sulphur burps - next morning I got my period. That whole day I stayed light on adding more solid food to the queue… Drank protein shakes and broth. Took milk of magnesia, pounded water, laid with a heating pad. Next day was a world of difference. Next month, I’m going to try and stay ahead of the period impact so I don’t have that happen again. Hopefully it’s nothing. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply!! I also have PCOS, so my period is all over the place. I was on Metformin until we started Zepbound. In theory I should be close to it now, but the discomfort has been for the entire month, so I’m not sure if that’s my issue or not. I definitely think it’s making it worse, at least. I talked to my doctor this morning and he wants me to stop Zepbound and see if I go back to normal within 2-3 weeks, and if so, we can take a different route. We’ll see! 😅
