NTA, but it seems like you need to check on getting more installation to help. We also use space heaters.

If you can't afford to heat your house, sell it and buy something smaller and better insulated. Or, divorce his ass. He's being ridiculous. Keeping your house at a temperature so the pipes don't freeze is for when you aren't there for a long stretch, like on vacation. That is not appropriate for human beings.

Our house is 1000sq ft, there isn’t many smaller houses out there. I can afford to pay the bill, it just sucks it’s so damn expensive every month.
