DIY Chrome/Grey ball help

I am busy building my own Chrome/grey ball and want it to be industry Quality. The only thing I am struggling with is deciding on how to attach the ball to the mounting cylinder beneath it.

I can see most suppliers do some sort of welding but apparently that would require the Chrome finish to be applied afterwards due to damage from the welding process.

Any ideas ?

P.S I have considered epoxying the two parts together but reckon I would get quite an ugly seam on the outside.
