Are these good clubs for a beginner?

I'm a complete novice, been taking some lessons and just been out on the course with some more experienced mates a couple of times. Thinking I will play for a year and then get a fitting but in the meantime my dad has gifted me his old Mizunos. It's sometimes ok and sometimes terrible! Is that just me or would other clubs be more sympathetic ? I don't have any stats info to share but will typically hit a club more than my mates...
