Bicycle instead of car - is that feasible?
Hey everyone,
I would like to learn about the public opinion, whether it would be feasible to abolish the car entirely and fully switch to bicycle for daily life.
I am well aware that this strongly depends on where you live, how far you have to commute to the work place, what kind of work you do, whether you have children or not, what the public transport options are in your region, etc.
So I just want to know if it is/would be feasible for you, feel free to add some explanation why it may or may not be an option.
As for me, I've never owned a car in my life, but I've had a driver's license ever since I was 17. I commute ~10km to work (office job), usually by bicycle, sometimes by bus. I do not have kids and I live in walking distance to the next super market, pharmacy and other necessities of daily life. It happens a few times a year that I use my family's shared car to go on longer travels, if the destination is not reachable by train with acceptable conditions (long distance train riding around here sometimes takes literally twice as long as car driving, and it has become infuriatingly unreliable)
