I think my spirits guides are tricking me

I’ve been using my pendulum a lot lately and when I ask for some advice (I ask questions of yes or no) they give me certainty that I should do a specific thing. When I do it and it works terribly, I go back to communicate with them and ask “why did you tell me to do that? Were you trying to play/make fun of me?” And they answer yes. What can I do for them to stop playing with me when I use my pendulum? They always seem to give me right answers when I use Tarot to communicate with them. But I’m not really sure who is answering this questions, if it really is a spirit guide or jusr a trickster spirit
