The Case Collection of Baiyun Duan vs. Amazon: Update
As many of you know, I've been fighting with Amazon bots over getting this book published to Kindle.
Its now up, amazingly.
The bots seemed to think the work is public domain, and wouldn't publish it unless I have proof of the translator's death (Um...)
I don't know what set it off; the Reddit posts, WeTransfer, WordPress, something else...
I think it saw my other publication on Amazon and was too stupid to understand that a book released twice from the same account is probably the same author.
I've deleted all the Baiyun Duan Reddit posts, the WordPress posts, turned off my Reddit searchability to try to get it to work, but I have no idea what actually made it happen in the end.
To make up for all this nonsense, I've made an Epub you can download from the website, or you can support through Amazon:
I've also got a Mobi and pdf version if people ask.
In addition, to make up for all the problems, I'm going to be re-posting all of Baiyun Duan over the coming months. This way, the work will always be accessible to people searching the internet for free. This will buffer future publications—to avoid this aggravation, I'll continue posting the Caodong poetry book after it is published rather than leading up to it.
I will also be discontinuing including the Chinese in the publications to avoid the possibility that the bots are just pulling from cBeta and misunderstanding. I will continue to include the Chinese in the Reddit posts, since all the real Zen nerds are concentrated here anyway.
I really appreciate everyone's continued support, particularly my 3 patrons—I make sure everything is available for free because it's worth it to be given away for free, but I also appreciate the bucks from Amazon and the patrons. It doesn't replace my 9-5, but it is cherry on the cake of doing the translation work.
If you have any questions, AMA. Its pretty late so I may get to some of your questions in the morning.
