[TOTK] My Save vs My 10yr-old Daughter's (No Spoilers)
I have had every Zelda game. I cut my teeth on the original gold NES cartridge, have fond memories of the OoT era, and have been in awe of what has come with the age of BOTW. I know all the lore, cry at the side stories of all the npcs, obsess over every little detail. I make sure to search every nook and cranny, read tips and tricks to make sure I get the most out of the little time I get to play, and watch "How to be OP" youtube videos. I don't go into an area or battle unless I'm fully prepared with appropriate meals, clothes, and weapons.
My playthrough is spent admiring and respecting the game as the artform it is, and my TOTK save is barely at 10%. My map is non-existant, littered with red x's to show my absolutely unsuccessful treks around the starting area.
My 10yr-old daughter, however, is a different story. She doesnt talk to any npcs, barely acknowledges storyline, has maybe cooked one meal? (and I think it was because she accidentally dropped an apple near a fire?). She breaks rare, OP weapons by endlessly attacking chickens and koroks (but saves her stick-stick "because he's cute!"), laughs maniacally while swimming in circles around fish for MINUTES, and enters every cave, dungeon, and enemy camp without any clue of what is in her inventory - clothing, food, and weapons alike. She SOLD ALL HER GEMS. TO BUY MILK. BECAUSE THE COWS NEED JOBS.
And yet! AND YET! She has stumbled into every tower! Found all the important missing npcs BY ACCIDENT! Has more korok seeds than knows what to do with! Has made machines that traverse land and sea and air that engineers would envy! And she doesnt give a damn!!! Not a single shit given!
She's just happy she gets to attack chickens.
10/10 best game of all time.
