Eye of Kezan not upgradeable from story mode/quest drop?

I did Liberation of Undermine on story mode to complete the campaign quest, and received Eye of Kezan (ilvl 623) from Gallywix.

I don't see a way to upgrade it using crests/stones. Is that because it was a drop from story mode? Thanks!
