Fantasy Name Generators: The ultimate generator for worldbuilding and writing (in my opinion)
Recently, while searching for planet name generators I stumbled upon this page while checking the main page of Seventh Sanctum. Once there, I did not only found what I was looking for, but something much bigger that I thought you must check out if you're currently having struggles with names and writing.
I present to you: fantasynamegenerators.com
This page is amazing and helped me a lot with my worldbuilding. Why do I think it is so cool? Let's take a look at the categories...
Fantasy and Folklore
This category is perfect if you're writing or creating a fantasy world. It gives you names for hundreds of different fantasy and sci-fi species and roles, from the classic Dragons to the more obscure creatures like the manananggal from Philippine folklore. If you want to create new races and species instead of using the classic mythic beings, this category also has generators for that.
Real Names
The Real Names category is perfect if you're looking for some real or realistic sounding names for your characters. It has lots of different generators that create complete names for almost every country, region, religion, language and historical period. Some other generators in this list also create names with a certain "aesthetic", like Nature Names, or Cosmic Sounding Names.
Places and Locations
Just as the title says, this list has generators for every place that you could imagine Natural formations like cliffs, mountains or seas? They have plenty of generators for that. Amusement parks? Shops? Casinos? Harbors? They have them covered too. Stars? Continents? Outer realms and Planets? Of course that they have them. Seriously, this category saved my life in various ocassions.
Pop Culture
The page has THOUSANDS of these generators. They can create names inspired by famous books, videogames, anime and manga series, comic book universes and of course, D&D and other Table RPGs. This last category is perfect for thos of you who create homebrew worlds and campaigns for this kind of games. The other categories perhaps are best suited for fanworks or AUs of the alreading existing products, but if you have a world somewhat inspired by those products, they may be useful too.
Town and City Names
You can choose from a variety of settings and aesthetics for your city names, from Steampunk cities to Elvish towns or perhaps city names and nicknames witha modern feel, where you have a great list of options like American sounding cities to Aboriginal towns inspired by real cultures.
Other Names
Basically, everithing else. I love this category because it has hundreds of different name generators for things like weapons, armor pieces, minerals, species, inventions, nicknames, organizations, religions, diseases, titles, artifacts, time periods, stage names, criminal bands, monuments, constellations, currencies, tools and practically everything you may need or didn't know that you needed for your world and characters.
Description Generators
Another category which generators that are extremely helpful for writers with writing block or worldbuilders that ran out of ideas or want more inspiration. It creates random descriptions for a variety of things, like creatures, minerals, diseases, armor, magic, personalities, weapons, quests, etc.
