Maternity Leave Discrimination?
Ill start this off by saying I know you can get laid off during maternity leave…but over the last 6 months leading up to my layoff I have been experiencing some discrimination and I’m wondering if I have a case for wrongful termination.
-My director asked me if I was pregnant when I was at 18 weeks. A week later about 50% of my work was removed as per her direction. -I was approved a promotion in the fall but coincidentally it was postponed until after I returned from maternity leave in the summer…this was shortly after she asked I was pregnant. -She was asking my manager if I was planning on working while on leave leading up to my delivery to which she said no… -She pressured to come into the office while on bedrest to which I stood my ground and said no -I was laid off 6 weeks postpartum because my role was eliminated but then discovered that my booo of work was transitioned to a teammate whose work was no longer needed.
It seems surreal to potentially be in this position I feel like I’m overreacting or being delusional
