Advice on the purchase of miter saw

Hi everyone,

I've been dabbling in woodworking for a while now. Recently, I built a table with a recessed surface designed for playing board games. A couple of times a year, I take on a new project, like building a nice chest or a cabinet—it's such a satisfying hobby to work on.

Now, I'm considering buying a miter saw to speed up my workflow and improve the accuracy of my cuts. Currently, I’m using either a hand saw or a handheld circular saw, which work fine, but I think a miter saw could make things a lot easier and more precise.

Since I’m still an amateur hobbyist, I’d love to hear your advice on a good option that doesn’t break the bank.

Here are some ideas I’ve been considering:

  1. Buying a new Parkside saw: From my experience, their price-to-quality ratio has been quite good for my level of projects.
  2. Looking at an entry-level model from another brand: I’m open to recommendations for other reliable brands that cater to hobbyists.
  3. Buying second-hand: This might allow me to get a higher-end model for the price of a simpler new one. However, I worry about not being able to properly assess the condition of a used saw.

For context, I live in the Netherlands, so availability of certain products might vary.

Thanks in advance for your advice!
