Do aero roof bars make a difference in terms of wind noise?

Not specifically a kayaking question but we mostly all have roof bars so just wondering. Did anyone switch from traditional square bars to aerodynamic bars?

And did it make any difference?

EDIT: I'm talking about wind noise with nothing loaded. I just leave the bars on the car.
