Is this a black rat snake??

Sorry for the terrible photos my camera stinks. I stumbled across this guy dead in the lake I was fishing in. He was pretty large. Lake is near a wooded area if that helps.

Also, what might've killed it? I seen no signs of struggle of that someone or something killed it. It was just floating dead next to the shore. Thanks!
