Backyard wedding, do's, dont's and tips appreciated.
My partner and I were talking today about the possibility of us having a backyard wedding. We don't have an official engagement yet but know we're getting married.
So the backyard is huge. Fully fenced, 3 large trees to hang lights from and a huge shed (as big as the house). We intend on having it at winter (in Australia).
Initial idea: have our actual ceremony with just immediate family at a special place to us, host the reception at ours. Big bonfire, backyard lights, catered food and we would hire 2 porta-potties for guests to use the toilets. Also hiring chairs for people to have a place to sit and some tables, shed would fit everyone if in the chance of rain, get some couches for the shed as well and hire outdoor heaters.
We'd roughly be inviting about 50 people.
What's your pros, cons and tips for this?
Forgot to add: I live rurally, quite far out. There's accommodation probably about 25 minutes away and not a lot of taxi services out our way. But there's a free camp-site across the road from us, we would be telling people about this as well :)
