Voice acting for reels

I occasionally use a free AI for voice-overs in my reels/shorts (to narrate scenes & dialogue). A friend recently said it might lower the quality of the videos, since they're being done by a recognizable AI voice rather than a real human (I don't want to use my own voice because I have a small lisp)

As a growing author, I don't have any income to put towards real talent. BUT I would like to move away from using the AI voices eventually.

I know this isn't much of a discussion, but I wanted to know if any other authors find themselves in the same boat? I hate to use AI as a crutch, but I don't really have an alternative.

I also do have a male friend who could do some narration, but all the main characters are women so it's not super convenient 😅
