Beginners kit

As my retirement years are not too far away, I'm looking for something to tinker with and watch repair seems like it might be the right challenge. Does anyone sell a beginners (tools and accessories) kit at a reasonable price, not after the cheapest in quality. Or at least a list of what is needed to get started.
