Where to jam with folk musicians?

I'm a banjo player that's trying to find other folk players who I can learn from and jam with. Preferably I'm looking for something closer to an open jam as opposed to a more closed collective. Willing to drive around the DMV, but I'm really hankering to not keep playing by myself.
