What can fel magic do besides destroy?

I was wanting to make a warlock character, but everything i've read about fel magic is its abilities to corrupt and destroy; so the only ideas i see are either someone who wants power that can only destroy or someone who wants to study demons to fight the Legion. What else could be done with fel magic?
