Is it ok to keep it like this?

Hi all The other day I had a discussion regarding storing vinyl like this. In the original packaging and plastic. The other person stated that it harms the record. Is this true?

I kept it in plastic to treat it like a collectors item. I've also got another set which I use. Shall I remove the plastic or leave it on?
