Onimusha seems like a tribute to Vagabond?

Tho i've never read the manga (well 30,40 chapters before or the novel (it is on my list and i plan to complete it after a few days)but being in the animanga media discussion i am familiar with it

Just completed the anime and that last episode when the main plot has been dealt with in the start it seems like its a tribute to his character growth in the manga

am i wrong i'd like to know the thoughts of people here and who watched the anime
