Item Left on Airplane

My wife left her bag/purse on a flight; we filed a Left on Board (LOB) report with United. If it wasn’t found while cleaning after our flight how can we track where the plane went to after? Does the LOB report search all airports that the plane went to in order to find the item or just the airport we arrived at?
