Say goodbye to OKTA use FaceID or fingerprint instead

Alright I’ve know this for a long time, and I’m sure a lot of people have been using this for a long time but apparently most people still don’t know. There are other ways to MFA than okta, the easiest way is Face ID / finger print. I’m an Apple user and this works across MacBook, iPhone and iPad. Of course android and windows provide similar feature I just don’t know

Steps 1. Go to sso.unimelb.edu.au 2. Login and use okta for one last time 3. Click your name on the top left corner and go to settings 4. Under security methods you should see okta verify is set up, under okta should be a option to setup a “security key or biometric Authenticator” see image 5. Follow the setup process to set up a passkey using ICloud Keychain, passkey or whatever the name is. 6. Log out and try log in again, when prompted to okta verify, choose verify with something else and choose security key or biometric Authenticator. See image 8. Next time when you try to sign in the faceid / fingerprint prompt should come up straight away 7. You should be all set

You only have to set up this once if all your Apple devices are signed in under one Apple ID, if not you’d have to set up a passkey for each devices. Keep OKTA as backup, don’t delete it

Any questions let me know

Anyone tried this on windows or android put the process below
