How to get started fishing?

I've fished before but it was back when I was a kid. I'm wanting to get back into it and was looking to specifically fish for trout since a local spot has plenty of them. I was wondering what all I need? Every tutorial I find seems needlessly complicated. If somebody just has a list of what you need to catch a trout that would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!
