My tortoise hates baths

What do I do? She's a 3yo greek tortoise and I'm afraid to bathe her more often, bc she really hates it. Not to mention many websites have conflicting advice (weekly, daily, soap, no soap??). I usually take a big laundry basket and warm water (no soap, I tried it twice but I'm scared that it'll get into her eyes), but I've recently switched to just putting her in my shower with a light warm stream for more comfort. She still hates it, she claws and hisses as if I'm torturing her. When she's been in the garden or when she finds a slug, I also have to gently scrub her (I use an old toothbrush or cotton pads). Now that's a whole other tantrum. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm scared I might've done it wrong the first time, making her hate it.

UPDATE (if anyone else has this problem): I've taken some advice and have been getting her used to soaking in the shower with a soft lightly warm stream from the shower head. She actually managed not to hate it right away and actually kept up a good 10 minutes before trying to escape. One day I'll be able to share my love of the water with her, progress is being made.
