Tantrums??

My son just turned one this month, he’s very mobile and loves to get into things he shouldn’t. I try my hardest to use the “no thanks” and distract him w something else but it doesn’t work at all. He will throw himself backwards and scream like we were torturing the poor kid. Recently, with these bursts, he starts to take his diaper off! Like in a rage fit, strips naked. I’m at a loss, he’s my first but I’ve worked in childcare for over 10 years but I’m at a loss rn.

How can I help deescalate these situations? I just had surgery on Monday. He knows my words, I ask if he needs a hug, or a drink, or whatever else to calm down but nothing is working.
