[TOMT][MOVIE][80s/90s]: Children’s animated movie with live action elements

This is driving me crazy and no amount of googling or talking to AI is helping. Now, it's very possible that I have completely lost the plot and A) I am combining multiple movies into one B) I have made it up C) I had a stroke (can't remember that either)

I think the movie had a release in the late 80s or early 90s. I remember seeing it on VHS at some point when I was 7-9 years old, maybe even a little later so that would mean early to mid 90s. It's not Disney type animation, more in the style of "All dogs go to heaven" (another fantastic film btw)

In my heart of heart I believe its a live action movie with a young boy protagonist, think 8-12 years old. For one reason or another he gets pulled into an animated world, and he needs to find a way to get back. I know what you're thinking, it's The Pagemaster. Well it's not. At least I don't think it is. Because I have no recollection of there being any type of fantasy elements to it.

The only thing I sort of remember is the ending. The protagonist is at his house/farm (I use the word farm loosely) and there is some kind of fire or accident that he has to deal with. There might also be a dog involved somehow. I have no idea if this movie even exists and Im literally losing sleep over it.
