Why are direct red canister hits not counted in the hitting opponents with arena carriables contract?

Got the stupid "Hit opponents 15 times with arena carriables, cash boxes or decryption keys " quest. Hopped in a match where I hit 3 people directly with red canisters and yet, the quest was still at 0/15.
