Temp contract ends after Saturday's night shift, but still showing me another month's worth of shifts on Schedule... a good sign?
Hey all.
Been asking our Night Lead Manager for the last few weeks about when I'll find out the prospects of my Temp contract being extended (potentially becoming permanent). She's said I should know "by the end of the month" just over 2 weeks ago, then last Thursday asked about me being able to pick up an extra night a week OT until the end of August, to which I replied I'm happy to, as long as I'm extended/kept on and reminded her my last shift is 3rd Aug. Her response was non-committal but included words to the effect of "we're really happy with your work".
I know for a fact we're c.100 hours under contract on Nights (and have just this week posted more vacancies - which this time round funnily enough are all Permanent rather than "Temporary in lieu of probation" - we're consistently dropping at least 2 aisles a night (and colleagues finishing early are only sometimes put onto uncovered aisles due to a lot of "I only cover X aisle" colleagues; managers are even covering colleague work and skipping their usual fill on cereals!)
So yeah... Seeing as Lead Manager doesn't seem to work Sat/Sun I'm *hoping* I can catch up with her over the next couple of nights to confirm otherwise I'll just keep following my app schedule I guess? The Line Managers (we have 2 SLs, 2 Line Managers and then the Lead) have said it's beyond their remit to make any decisions/hand out any official verdicts.
UPDATE:
Spoke to Lead last night just before starting my shift. She's not gotten round to doing the official letters just yet (been a busy week, MST prep Monday night etc) but she was very pleased to say they'll be "keeping me". Not "keeping me on" just "keeping me". Haha.
So barring any last minute fuckups (we all know how quickly retail wage budgets can change!) I should get it confirmed in writing (not just verbally) within the next week I guess.
