weird plastic/rubbery smell in terrarium

sup, dropped a bigger terrarium yesterday and when i opened it up today to air it out a little i noticed kind of a burnt rubber whatever smell? dug around for like 5 minutes and figured that it's the central piece of driftwood i got from my cousin a few months back, can't exactly take it out without collapsing the entire setup n all. wondering if it's gonna implode or live past the establishment phase, picrel

also decided to sprinkle some activated charcoal over it but not sure if thats gonna contribute anything
