Tan with or without bikini?

I've never used a tanning bed before and right now I'm in a debate with partner about tanning with a bikini or not. I say yes, because I don't want my pussy lips to be burnt or my nip nips. They say no. I personally think a cute Brazilian bikini line is adorable. They suggest using tape for crisp tan lines. But I don't really want that. So advice on it would be nice.

Also, any other advice on tanning because I've never used a tanning bed before and I've been doing a lot of research but I feel like I know nothing lol
