Green beans at a high volume stores

My heart genuinely goes out to all the green beans at high volume stores that aren’t able to receive the coaching, training and support they need.

I’m in college so today is my day off, I decided to mobile order an iced matcha tea latte at my home store (which is inside a mall) on my way to class. Went in to pick it up only to watch in horror as the barista put the matcha scoops into the white mocha, no water, put the ice on top, then SWRIL IT around in the shaker then dump it in into the cup. The result was a super clumpy and separated matcha mixture, the cup filled 3/4 of the way with non-fat milk. Meanwhile another partner was standing beside them, watching the whole time.

At high volume stores most times newer baristas aren’t taught standard. They’re taught shortcuts to save time. (ex. they were probably taught this ‘swirl method’ for refreshers and attributed it to all shaker drinks) due to the excuse of high demand. They are never corrected on these shortcuts/behaviours by their fellow partners and continue to believe that this is the way things are done, until a customer throws a massive fit.
