My ring broke after wearing it for 7 years

Hey! I really need advice from fellow spiritual people on this! I am a 22 year old woman, finishing my degree at the moment. I have been wearing a ring on my left thumb for about 7 years, and now it broke. I never ever take this ring off, so much so that it has left a dent on my inner thumb. It’s not necessary a very pretty ring but I am obviously quite attached to it since I have worn it for so long! The funny thing is that when I looked down on my hand and saw that it had broke, I felt some sense of relief? And now when I put it on again I get such bad vibes and want to take it off straight away! What could this mean? I have loved this ring for so long, but now all of a sudden it feels as if it belongs to a stranger.
