Are soul ties real?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot in the past several months. A little backstory: Fell in love with a guy that was supposed to just be friends with benefits for summer. Had sex multiple times when I was on my period. We were in touch for a few months after separating (were from different continents) but I can’t really move on. He ended it but keeps coming back even tho there’s no reason for him to do so. I’ve never had this kind of connection with anyone in my life (friends, guys I’ve talked to). Are we somehow connected?
