Thoughts on Pickled Jalapeños
I’ve been really into pickled Jalapeños lately, I have no idea why, but I’ve decided that I want to try as many different brands as I can just to see which one is the best. I haven’t tried that many so far but of the ones I have tried:
La Costeña pickled jalapeños: The first brand I started out with. Pretty tasty, has a nice crunch, I thought the heat was mild but decent at first, but after trying different brands and going back to this one there’s no heat at all.
Mt. Olive pickled jalapeños: Probably my favorite right now. Pretty spicy and has a nice crunch. Not much more to say about this one, just solid so far.
Jeff’s Garden Hot Jalapeño peppers: This one was disappointing to me. There is decent heat but no crunch, the sliced jalapeños just mush in your mouth and I really do not like that. Also, there’s a sweet aftertaste that I’m not really fond of. Usually I don’t like mixing sweet and spicy, so this one just isn’t it for me.
Does anyone have any recommendations on other brands I should try? What is your favorite? I’m looking to try more (but preferably no mushy ones, please!) and any input would be appreciated!
