Is it hard to get into the “new” South Park?

When I was a kid, I used to catch South Park episodes on cable every now and then. I didn’t think I had seen that many, but recently, as I’ve gotten more interested in the series as an adult, I realized I actually knew a lot of the show’s lore.

The thing is, I’ve watched a lot of the older seasons (probably up to around 2010 or so), but once the show shifted to more connected storylines, like the first presidential election and other ongoing themes, I felt a bit out of the loop. For me, South Park has always been a “good laugh” kind of show, so I never really dived too deep into the newer seasons.

Would you recommend getting into the newer, more serialized story arcs, or should I stick to the classic one-episode plotlines?
