How to make conversations interesting

Something I’ve noticed alot recently talking to people is there are times we can talk for hours. You’re probably thinking that’s good…. It is! I guess….

My issue is, is that I noticed that those long convos seem to be started by the other person. However, every time I try to create the conversation it’s usually shut down by dry or disinterested responses. Even with people where we were having fun talking just before.

Am I just that boring? Or do I just really find whatever other people say interesting? I always try to sound interested but that’s usually never reciprocated.
