Weaning to only one feed overnight?

We’ve been doing Ferber with our 5mo for 14 days now. He’s doing pretty well, with an average of about 20 minutes crying each night (but some nights less- 7 minutes a couple nights ago!)

I’m not ready to completely drop all night feeds (I EBF), and he typically wakes up anytime between 1230am-230am for a feed. Lately it’s been on the earlier side, and then he wakes up again. I would like to wean to only one feed overnight, and potentially use Ferber to sleep train for any other wake-ups- I’m fine with a final wake-up time of between 5-6am or later.

My question is, will this be confusing for him? Can I do a feeding at his first wake and then do the Ferber method for anything else until 5am or later?

Some additional info- he sleeps around 3-4 hours each day with naps (he is not nap trained yet, wanted to start with nights), and I try to follow a 2.5-3 hour wake window between naps. Usually he has 3 naps that end up being around 9am/lunchtime/3pm. I will wake him up around 5pm if he’s still sleeping (usually I also try to cap naps to no more than 2 hours but those instances are rare). His last feed is around 630pm, and he’s placed in the crib awake after a short bedtime routine of change diaper, pajamas, massage with baby lavender lotion with songs, read a book, sleep sack and then crib with white noise machine.
