ipad v laptop

im wondering whether to get an ipad or laptop for sixth form, im taking bio, chem, psychology and possibly sociology. i originally thought ipad would be put to more use, however, i was also thinking in the long run about uni. i plan to do dental hygiene and therapy, will an ipad see me through this?
