Can there be like a gothic sci-fi???

Ok I'm very new to sci-fi like VERY new and I don't really know what I can classify in this genre.

I wanted to make an oc and the world they live in basically and my inspiration was from gothic art and architecture but I also wanted to add sci-fi elements. Like a big focus on technology and advancements but I think that'll make it more historical than sci-fi?

Now when I say technological advancement I don't mean advancements in reference to medical period, I mean advancements that are similar or beyond from even the mordern world. The only difference is that the story will look more gothic yk?

Like even the world will be based on the "floating islands" type map which is achived by man-made instruments somehow (haven't really thought is through yet)

I would also really appreciate learning more about the genre and sub-genres if possible!
