When will Saudi change?

I need to share my experience as a Pakistani professional working in Saudi Arabia. After 9 years of experience and an international education, I recently encountered a situation that highlighted double standards in professional treatment.

During a client engagement, I faced extremely disrespectful behavior from a junior employee from client side who happens to be close to the CEO. Despite my experience and track record of working with global clients, I was spoken to in a manner that I doubt would ever be used with a Western expat. When I stood up for myself, I received a formal warning letter from my company without even being given a chance to explain my side.

As someone born and raised in Saudi Arabia, this incident isn't isolated. There's an undeniable pattern of different treatment based on nationality, particularly favoring Western expats over South Asian professionals. Many of us face this subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) discrimination despite our qualifications and experience.

After this episode i am seriously considering leaving my position over this and leaving this country to move somewhere else. Disheartened and given hope on anything good or khair from some Saudis.

Note: this isn't about generalizing an entire population. Many locals are professional and respectful. This post is specifically about addressing the existing discrimination that many South Asian professionals face in corporate settings by Saudis. I was told that I don't have to respond and forget about it but this is not how a man should live.
