Bad fortunes for Rex

I became a Rex fan in 2018 and started really getting into his music during the pandemic. When the allegations came out, I was in college, and had many friends who liked his music. Looking back, it is really sad how right when it seemed like he was getting his groove and become more popular, the SA allegations came out and it eliminated all his steam.

When they first were announced, I’m sure everyone was shocked and disappointed, and there was even a time when someone was playing his music and I said “oh this is Rex” and she said “oh I’m sorry I’ll turn it off.” I didn’t WANT her to turn it off but due to the such recent allegations it was hard to separate the person from the music. Once charges were dropped and no findings pointing towards SA were made, I just feel like he has never gotten anywhere close to where he is now. Now that we know what we know, it really is a shame.

I am a pretty liberal person, and I do not defend predators or take their side when they are accused of something— 100%. It is just sad that in a small percentages of cases, things like this happen. While Rex is probably going to be ok considering he’s made some good money with his music, it’s still sad to think that arguably my favorite artist went from rising star to forgettable over allegations that are most likely fabricated.

Not at all trying to attack the accuser with this post, and am not even really talking about the context of the allegations. More just sharing my thoughts on how it seems it derailed his career a bit
