Why do we play retro games?

The question may seem obvious, but I think everyone has his own answer. Do you think the games from the past are still better then the modern ones? Do you play them to return to your childhood? Or maybe you just don't differ the games by the age and play everything you find interesting? There may be thousands of reasons for retrogaming, I'd like to know yours!
