I’m a grocery store employee, not a chef
So I work at a grocery store, as the title suggests. I was walking around just straightening my displays, when this customer stops me to ask me how I make my gravy. I kind of just stared for a second and then explained I don’t really “cook” and have no clue how to make gravy, but usually I just heat up a jar of gravy, and then pointed to the display of gravies. She looks at me disgusted, and then says she’s trying to make homemade gravy. And I’m like oh, I’m sorry I don’t know how to make it from scratch, but she could probably google a recipe. She rolls her eyes and then starts asking me how to make cranberry sauce. I say, “well you might not believe this one, but I don’t make that from scratch either, I just bust open one of these bad boys” and picked up a can of cranberry sauce. She immediately starts asking how to make stuffing. And I tell her, oh I use boxed stuffing. So then she starts in on me, telling me I have no business working at a grocery store if I can’t even help customers make simple basic dishes. Like ma’am, sorry but I work 50-80 hours a week, have two small children, and three family members(my kids and hubby) who would literally eat frozen chicken nuggets not even cooked if I let them. And any time I attempt any home cooked meal, I end up pulling out some uncrustables. So my bad for not learning cooking basics, it’s just a skill that won’t serve much good in my current living situation. But I can show you how to microwave a mean chicken nuggie
