Was raising kids always so nightmare-ish?

I constantly see parents saying they dread the Christmas and spring break because it means having to spend more time with their kids.

I can´t imagine how bad it must be for so many people to rather be at fucking work than at home with their kids.

I´ve even seen people saying they secretly wish they were divorced so that they can get some childfree weekend.

It wasn´t always this way, right? This mist be a result of Millennial parenting standards.
