“Sex and the City” and feeling nostalgia for something you never experienced

My girlfriend just finished watching the show recently (she watches the whole series every few years periodically, girlboss or something) and while I didn’t sit down and watch every single episode the setting of the show really grabbed me. It felt like a genuine representation of what life was like in a different period not to distant from ours temporally, but dramatically different in function (cell phones, computers, non-smoking). Sure it’s cheesy and infuriating at times, but it stands out as a period piece that truly is representative of the mood of a time without the intention. I find madmen to be similar, but being a show made 50 years after its setting, it lacks a certain authenticity that I’ve really started to search for. Any suggestions for similar shows that feel like true representations of the time they are set in?
