Incompetence on the rise. Idk why

Flynn effect indicates that people are supposedly getting smarter but I think actually dipshit tech bro “disruptors” have just created such a weirdly siloed and complex world that most people simply cannot navigate. This now includes myself, I guess.

I live in the Midwest. Half the roads and businesses in my city are closed because power has been out for days due to a rain storm (not even a bad one). This is the third time this year this has happened. No one takes responsibility for this, so it just keeps happening. The power company has an outage map that is completely useless and doesn’t reliably tell you what has power and what does not.

Had to get a prescription refilled, but couldn’t cuz first pharmacy closed without power. Okay. Go to another pharmacy that claims to be open; it’s closed and now without power. Finally get it sent to an open pharmacy and get told my insurance company “won’t allow pick up at that location”. Just shoot me. Btw you can’t just call pharmacies and talk to people anymore. Just endless robo prompts punctuated by advertisements.

Healthcare is pretty much the perfect example of government bureaucracy x corporate bureaucracy making fairly simple but important activities a complete pain in the ass. And the people who are on the costumer service side of things lack the competence and the will to provide meaningful assistance. There is something deeply soul crushing and uniquely American about the healthcare industry here. And yeah I know Europe and Canada have issues, but they also don’t let their citizens get fucked by greedy insurance and healthcare companies.

Scrap it; start over.
