Freaking out about eye damage
EDIT: thank you everyone for not calling me a dumbass lol, I’m extremely comforted by the comments and linked research ☺️
Please be kind if I did this very stupidly.
I got the Mito 300 and after extensive research, I used it for 2 minutes at ~12” away (red light only, did not do NIR or the combo). I did not use the goggles based on what I read and my skin goals but kept my eyes closed the entire time.
Uh. It felt like I was 12” from the sun itself (brightness wise) and after the 2 minutes were up, everything around me was red for about 2-3 minutes, and when I closed my eyes I saw red. I had a reddish light in the center of my vision for about 5 minutes.
I read that it’s normal to see greens and blues immediately after (which I kind of did) but I see it’s only “normal” to see the weird colors for a few seconds. And this fucked me RIGHT up. Is this typical for anyone else? Not normal? My vision seems fine now but should I be worried I did damage?
Obviously the solution here is wearing the goggles next time but I’m so confused why I didn’t come across this in my research (apart from the research stating that RLT could be good for the eyes).
